In the course of the working trip to Sumy region, President Petro Poroshenko took part in the opening of the plant of LLC “Gualapack Ukraine”. Gualapack CEO Michele Guala demonstrated production capacities of the plant and samples of production to the President. Petro Poroshenko and Michele Guala also launched the new production line.
“Today, we take part in a great and solemn event – opening of new modern extremely important production in Sumy. A powerful Italian investor decided to build this production exactly in Ukraine,” the Head of State noted during the opening ceremony.
“60 new plants were opened in Ukraine in three years of war during these severe challenges. Ukraine has never achieved such pace before. This is a bright evidence of trust of our partners. They are confident that this nation is invincible. Thank you for this faith and these investments,” the President said.
Petro Poroshenko emphasized that the reformist efforts initiated three years ago have finally yielded fruits. According to him, customs revenues were overfulfilled, 85% of production will be sold abroad and only 15% will be consumed in Ukraine. This demonstrates quality and competitiveness of Ukrainian products, modern technologies.
The President noted that the new production line would be launched and the first product called “Chudo” had already been produced. “This product for Ukrainian children is ultra-modern, high-quality and healthy. And it symbolizes our efficient cooperation,” he said.
The President was pleased to hear the words of investors that they finally do not have problems with VAT refund on export, enjoy full support of the Ukrainian government and decided to further maintain their production capacities. “With this example, I would like to urge our foreign partners to invest more in Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko said. The President is going to visit Ternopil, Lviv and Zakarpattia shortly. “New production will be launched everywhere,” the Head of State added.
Petro Poroshenko noted that the Italian investor had an opportunity to build the production in any country of the world, but decided that the best option is Ukraine. The owners have already had a positive experience of cooperation with Sumy, a very high quality of products, competitive prime cost and favorable investment climate since the launch of the first production in 2014. “That is why they decided to build the second line and told me that they were not going to stop,” the Head of State added.
The President expressed special gratitude to the leadership of the enterprise for the high level of social responsibility and support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. “This is a truly responsible behavior,” Petro Poroshenko noted.
“The opening of this plant is truly symbolic. Despite Russian aggression you demonstrate that you believe in Ukraine,” the Head of State said.
